Min bokdebut...

My first post regarding my new project.

I started this blog in order to document my bicycle trip in 2013 and during that time I planned to continue to travel the world by bicycle, however life decided on a different and wonderful course-change.

I found my M and together with her I became a parent and a father.

So my new project is to pick up another passion of mine - writing.

I have decided to try and write a book and I want to share my learning experience with anyone who finds it interesting. The book will be in Swedish and should it ever become published perhaps I will attempt to translate it.

So from now on, if you don't speak Swedish, google translate is your friend.

Everyone has a diffrent story...

This is a couple of Swedish guys who went by bicycle quite a lot further than I did, still, I hear things they talk about and understand them and where they come from.

The Big Trip. (They talk mostly in Swedish.)

Me and my fiancée Marie on spring vacation in Greece.

A wonderful way to start summer is to leave Stockholm an early morning when there is a bewildered blizzard roaring outside the cab window on the ride to Arlanda airport. We went to Makrigialos on the island of Crete in Greece.

Snow!

Marie taking pictures from the hotel sundeck.

One of the days there we rented bicycles (suprised?) and went out for a spin around the surrounding area, it was a really lovely day.

Marie looking sharp and focused for the upcoming curve.

Being the awesome fiancée she is she suggested I bike of some steam and head out on a more difficult ride later that same day. I decided to ride up from Makrigialos to Pefki a small mountain village, it was on a hiking trail that easily made those hard roads from Albania seem like Autobahn. This was a hiking trail with steep, steel stairs and mostly impossible to ride by bicycle, it was amazing fun tho to get the bike through there anyhow.

Nice view eh?

You don't ride bicycles up those stairs unless you are Danny Macaskill.

Chicken goes with lemon right?

On my way down from the mountains along a great serpentine asphalted road,

Below are pictures from and towards the beach just a stone-throw away from our room.

Goat looked like he could kick some ass.

Panorama towards Makrigialos.
It was a really good week and it brought back many fond memories and created even more ones together with the love of my life, Marie.

The thirty-nine year-old rookie.

Tomorrow I make my grand entrance in www.sil.se (for you englishspeaking people it's this; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floorball), The Swedish Floor ball league, check out this youtube video.

SIL.SE

As I grew up in the north of Sweden we often played this game, probably to such an extent that it was border lining on addiction. What it also was for me was a passion, I love competition even when the odds are against me and I was never especially good in the game when I was young, partially due to being unfit and overweight. I also always played with my friends and never in the "real" teams and while this isn't professional it's probably rather close.

As I moved down to Stockholm I lost my contact with the sport since it's hard to get a group together to play and even harder to find spots to play in.

A few weeks ago we started talking at work about getting a group together and play but it never got anywhere, I did however get to hear about the above league and found a team that was looking for players.

I talked with the guy in charge and once I heard they played in division 1 last year and asked to get moved down to division 2 due to a better schedule I got hesitant to what level of skill will be required to to oneself justice. He convinced my though and while I am still very unsure about how this will turn out tomorrow I jump in in a match right away without ever seen the guys in the team.

Here's hoping I don't make a fool out of myself and can enjoy my rookie season even if it might very well start and end tomorrow...

It's only been four months and eight days...

...yet I feel my experience grows within me.

I had many feelings before and during my trip, while editing of my videos and photos and after viewing the result. One of them was that I felt my adventure lacked interesting content when it came to people watching it and reading about it.

I don't feel that any more. My brother asked recently if I was about to start making the shortened, boiled down version and I was like yeah, some time for sure but it feels daunting.

After thinking about it some more I don't think I wan't to do it like that because it would be something done for someone else and not for me. This trip of mine isn't a commercial for bicycle touring it's a glimpse into my life and an adventure I never thought I would dare doing. I enjoy seeing how I develop not only a slight tan ( or rust, you decide ) but also a diffrent way when talking to the camera, I enjoy how little of what I actually did was planned when shooting video and how I remember the feeling of when I fixed the camera to a branch genlty moving by the wind as I ate salami and drank a beer.

I have enjoyed getting views and comments on my videos but most of all I have enjoyed having them, they are a treasure to me and even tho the trip is relativly short it's filled with experiences and memories that will only get stronger with time.

If you have a dream don't let it stay a dream, dare to fulfill your dream.

Since coming home my life has changed quite a bit, I have met a wonderful girl whom I hold very dear, I have had an amazing summer and I now enjoy everyday life with my M.

It's a wonderful feeling when you look at someone and you feel your soul and heart feels like a carbonated soft drink that bubbles, expands and sparkles... I wish you that very feeling.

Here it is, my second attempt ever...

...on a real Mountain bike trail. The place? Ursvik in Sundbyberg.

What is interesting is that my first attempt, three days ago, consisted of me going the wrong way on the trail and meeting other riders passing me so after less than halfway I turned around.

No real dangers but I feel I might have bruised a rib as I reached a ditch in high speed I lowered my posterior almost to the extent of sitting on the back wheel. I did this to lower the center of mass but in doing so I had the saddle in front of the rib cage and when it slowed down too fast in the ditch I hit a rib on the back of the saddle, hurts a little today but I don't think it is broken, it just knocked the wind out of me.

Anyway, here is the video I shot from going around in those woods;

Any thoughts about it?

And now for something completely different...

...stay tuned for a upcoming video in a couple of days...

Last weekend in the Stockholm archipelago!

For the first time since moving to Stockholm I visited the Stockholm archipelago with M this last weekend, it was a haven of serenity and beautiful nature. Very cold water though I prefer bathing around the Mediterranean. The island is called Ornö. This is a part of what the previous link says about the island;

Ornö is the largest island in the southern half of the Stockholm archipelago, situated just north of the island of Utö. It belongs to the municipality of Haninge. The island is approx. 15 km long and 3–4 km wide.
The primary connection with the mainland, a car ferry line, is operated by Ornö Sjötrafik. This is a community owned company. The ferry goes between Dalarö on the mainland and Hässelmara on north-western Ornö. There are some 300 people living on the island all year round. During summertime, the number of people on the island multiplies.

It looks downhill but it was quite flat, it is the crap photographer (me) that screwed it up.
Day 2, exploring the island.
Beautiful weather and nature!
A mining area that's filled up with water.
Ground level among a sea of Ferns (Pteridophyta).
Me with the Fern sea in the background.
